Synopsis:

This second collection of tales follows the same design as ‘Eve’s Apples’. Each story is independent and yet, some are linked a little to others as well as to novels that followed on from this collection. The characters have a life of their own.

The original sin is not about women’s disobedience, it is about women discovering illicit and the perfect pleasures to be had from controlling obedience. Discover just how piquant that pleasure can be.

The Maxine Letters - The ultimate agony aunt answers and guides her devotees.

New Friends - He changed jobs, she found a club that compensated for the move.

The Ringer - A bachelor is surprised that his dating is a success. There is a reason.

Suburban Bliss - One nasty piece of work meets another.

Beholden - Taking a loan from the mother-in-law has placed him in her debt.

Aunty - A young man discovers what really happens on Aunty’s farm.

Yet To Come - The future of mankind when womankind gets the reins.

Loan - Repayment is expected. If it is not made, then there is a price to pay.

Harder edged than ‘Eve’s Apples’, this collection ranges over more severe plotlines that each resolve in just a few pages. I had more to write about Maxine and Mrs Tokashirimaso who appears in later novels, a little to say that is autobiographical and a short attempt to write about a future that is not yet with us.

Occasionally, ideas are ideal for this short form of telling. When they are, they end as a collection like this that ranges here and there across the spectrum. Look on it as sharp blows of the cane, rather than experiencing being locked in a cage. Look at these tales as the quickies that are needed to fill ten minutes, a contrast to full immersion and slow pleasure…
