Charles Horgarth is a successful but unknown lawyer who has decided to join a prestigious law firm in New York to get where the real money is. The interview at Justin and Charlotte's top ranking firm is where this tale begins.

When Charles turns down the offer of a job because of the 'unusual' style of Justin's interviewing technique he makes the mistake of insulting Justin in a way that the man cannot forgive.

Charles then discovers through chance that Justin and Charlotte are involved in a social group of wealthy people who regard those not part of their 'scene' as possible victims for their depraved activities.
