The stables offer some of the finest ponies, fillies and stallions to be bought in the US and Samuel soon finds his place as suitable for a first filly for some lucky girl.

The training, the punishments and the joys of serving and learning how to be the perfect pony between the traces of a carriage. The stalls, the parlour and the open road are all part of the training as Samuel is broken and altered to become the perfect gift for a spoiled brat on her birthday.

Meanwhile other things are afoot in Isabella’s stables. The gymkhana where prizes are on offer, the rivalry between two best friends. The promotions and demotions of the stables’ staff as well as the fearsome Miss Lily who rules the parlours with a rod as stiff as iron! We even get to meet Miss Harriman again as she looks in on the amusing little experiment that began in ‘Plaything’.

At last, Samuel is ready for his new owner, the small side-tales are settled and we can move on to the last volume of this delicious series…
